Our Story
Our Founder
Hello everyone! My name is Charbel Marche. I am a medical student computer scientist studying to get my MD at the University of Virginia with an avid passion for finance and investing. I am the founder and maintainer of all the tools available on this website. During several gap years after my undergraduate education—while applying to medical schools across the country and working part time—I decided to use my computer science background to solve several problems that cautious retail investors like myself face.
Our Goal
We strive to bring stock evaluation capabilities formally only available to investment managers and large banks to the retail investor. We further aspire to teach budding investors the basics of investing, accounting, and financial statement analysis, while providing easy-to-use tools that professional, experienced investors will find plenty of value in.
How We Came About
As a retail investor myself, I was never keen to take "professionals" and "analysts" advice on where to invest my hard earned money—especially given you cannot fully (or at all) hold these individuals accountable. Furthermore, I was neither a fan of investing blindly without knowing the financial positions of the companies I was investing in.
In pursuit of investing in an informed manner, it became evident that analyzing financial statements, metrics, and ratios in isolation is far inferior to comparing these across multiple companies over many years. However, such a tool is non-available to the retail investor and the data one may find on the web to calculate such metrics are difficult and highly time consuming to compare and analyze. Thus, I set out and created StockScrapers and all the tools offered within, for my own use and for the use of all the retail investors out there like myself.
To everyone who has supported me and my page, I thank you dearly. If there is anything I can do to make your experience more enjoyable and improve these products, please don't hesitate to email me at info@stockscrapers.com. Happy StockScraping!
Sincerely,
Charbel Marche
