What Is Income Before Tax? How Does It Differ From Operating Income?
Income before tax or earnings before tax (EBT) is the income available to a company out of revenue earned after cost of goods sold, operating expenses, and interest expenses (or income) are deducted.
This differs from operating income (EBIT) as operating income is income before interest income or expenses and taxes, while income before tax includes interest income and expenses.
